Dr Martin McConaghy is the best doctor I have worked with in any environment. His skill and dedication to his craft is second to none. I am lucky enough to have had the chance to work with him closely and see his attention to detail and experience first hand. World class in every aspect.
- Simon Zebo , 2018 Professional rugby player with Racing 92. Former Munster and Irish International Rugby Player
I have worked with Dr McConaghy for many years in a playing capacity with Armagh and later in a managerial capacity at Club level with Crossmaglen. There is no greater resource to players and management than a doctor who is invested in the welfare of his players and who is always pushing the limits of his knowledge to the betterment of both. Elite athletes cannot reach optimal performance without people like Dr McConaghy
- Tony McEntee, 2018: Former County Armagh Gaelic Footballer, Former Manager Crossmaglen Rangers
I worked for several years with Dr Martin McConaghy in my time on the Management Team with the Ulster Railway Cup Team. I always found him very professional and easy to get on with. His sports medicine knowledge and rapport with the players contributed significantly to our success
- Tony Scullion, 2018: Former County Derry Gaelic Footballer. Coach to Ulster Railway Cup Team
Dr Martin McConaghy was the Armagh team doctor during the period that I played for the County football team. Throughout this time and because of Martin’s expertise and knowledge in sports medicine, I was able to play every single match after his exact diagnosis of my injuries. Martin is precise and extremely professional in all he does and I would be delighted to recommend him to anyone requiring advice or treatment on any sports injury or indeed any medical related issue
- Steven McDonnell, 2018: Former County Armagh Gaelic Footballer
I benefitted greatly from Dr Martin McConaghy's knowledge of sports medicine and professional advice during my playing career. I first availed of Dr Martin’s medical expertise whilst playing for Armagh and continued to seek his medical opinion until I finished playing football with my club Ballyhegan. Whether it was major injuries or persistent niggly injuries Dr Martin was always very attentive and his correct diagnosis and rehabilitation plan with the physiotherapist always ensured I was back playing in the shortest timeframe. Martin is very professional and very approachable and I would have no hesitation in referring any person with sports injuries to him.
- Paul McGrane, 2018: Former County Armagh Gaelic Footballer
As Munster Rugby’s Head of Medical we had the pleasure of working with Dr Martin McConaghy across two seasons. His level of professionalism and commitment to Munster Rugby was evident for all to see, and Martin was an integral part of our squad and organisation. Overseeing all aspects of our medical requirements Martin managed the needs of a high performance team in an approachable and friendly manner, while always providing the highest level of care. We were very appreciative of Dr Martin’s time with us and wish him continued success for the future.
- Niall O’Donovan, 2018: Team Manager Munster Rugby
I first met Dr Martin when I played with Armagh back in 2003 or 2004 I had a series of ongoing injuries and niggles. I remember being frustrated and desperate to get back playing and training quickly. And I remember Martin being great as he would ask lots of questions and listen first of all to everything that was going on in regard to my injury profile. Martin would also investigate how much rest I was getting In between sessions; how much traveling I was doing and of course how much sleep I was getting. As a result of a comprehensive investigation and diagnostic, Martin created a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for me in conjunction with the physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach. After 3 months on this program I was in the best shape of my life. I know Martin has worked with thousands of athletes since I first met him and that he has worked with Ireland and Munster stars, however he is as humble and as athlete / player centered as ever.
- Enda Mc Nulty, 2018: Former County Armagh Gaelic Footballer
I had the pleasure of working with Dr Martin McConaghy with a number of teams over a 15 year period with Armagh, Ulster and Irish international rules team. I found him very easy to work with and always trusted his diagnosis and professionalism throughout our time together. Martin also had a great way with players. Wishing you all the best in your new venture
- Joe Kernan, 2018: Former Manager Armagh Senior Gaelic Football Team, Ulster Railway Cup, Irish International Rules Team
I had the pleasure of working alongside Doctor Martin McConaghy with the Munster rugby team through 2016-2018. Martin was without doubt one of the most professional and team focussed men I have ever come across. His commitment to his role ensured a perfect balance between player welfare and keeping players on the pitch to perform. His approach fostered an environment where there was complete trust across the coaching group and the playing group that Martin’s call was always going to be in the best interests of the club. Martin was an integral cog in creating a high-performance environment in Munster rugby and no matter where he goes we will always claim him as a Munster man.
- Jerry Flannery, 2018: Munster rugby coach. Former Munster and Irish International Rugby Player
Doctor Martin McConaghy is the best doctor I have worked with in a team sports environment. His commitment to the team was unquestionable. In sport, player welfare takes priority yet there is also the pressure of professional environments to win... I always found Dr McConaghy to maintain his professional integrity balancing the best interest of the player and team skillfully
- Felix Jones , 2018: Current Backs and Attack Coach, Munster Rugby. Former Munster and Irish International Rugby Player
I worked with Martin initially when I played with Armagh and then again when I became Manager of the Senior Team. As a player, I always found Martin approachable and professional. His sports medicine expertise always allowed early diagnosis and management of any injury I picked up. He worked closely with the physios and backroom team to help me get back playing as quickly but as safely as possible. As Armagh Manager, I found Martin to be an important part of our backroom team. He provided us with expert sports medicine advice on injury prevention and injury management which put our players in the best possible position to train and play. In any place where recovery and healing is present, it is essential that along with expert clinical diagnosis and appropriate rehab that the doctor involved cares about the athlete and puts him/her ahead of the sport that he/she plays. At all times Martin lived by this principle and the athletes involved, including myself, always knew we were not only in good hands but the right hands.
- Kieran McGeeney, 2018: Manager County Armagh Senior Football Team
For me, Martin epitomises every good trait a sports doctor should display. Hugely professional at all times and when something goes wrong he is the kind of person that won’t tip toe around the point but at the same time will put you at ease and have a plan. A first class doctor but more importantly a top class person. Thanks for everything again Doc
- Peter O’Mahony, 2018: Professional rugby player with Munster and Ireland
